SOME UPDATES FROM LOVELY THAI AUTHORITIES AS FOLLOWS
1. Regarding tourist visas, as of 2 November, any non-Thai can apply for a tourist visa (including, Italians,
Albanians and Cypriots). The Consulates can issue them such visas; however, an extra document is
needed: a current bank statement of the applicant showing the closing balance (each month) of 15,000
euro/person for last 6 months in English or Italian. The bank statement must show account owner (they
need to upload this document to the on-line COE website as well). For Foreign nationals (other than
Italian), a copy of valid residence permit in Italy which valid until the end of the trip to Thailand is needed.
IMPORTANT: the same regulations on COVID are still in force. They will have to apply for the COE
via coethailand.mfa.go.th , proof of the 14-day ASQ, the fit-to-fly, COVID Rt-PCR test 72 hours before
flying, medical insurance that cover COVID treatment of no less than 100,000 USD.
2. For plane tickets, there are no specific airlines anymore, Thai Civil Aviation already granted most airlines
to operate flights to Thailand. (Including Phuket, which need to book for Alternative Local Quarantine)
You can see from the website: hsscovid.com
From now on, Retirement, Non-O, single entry, visa validity 3 month, is now also possible with the
following criteria:
The applicant must be 50 years old and above.
Bank Statement or Proof of Income with a minimum balance of 6,000 Euro or
monthly pension of 1,500 Euro
Apart from the Medical insurance policy which covers treatment and medical
expenses in relation to COVID-19, with a minimum coverage of 100,000 USD,
the applicants must show proof of being medically insured for the entire period
of stay in Thailand with the following coverage:
Outpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 40,000 THB
Inpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 400,000 THB
The traveler still needs to follow the COE procedure by register on-line as normal. On the
coethailand.mfa.go.th website they should choose types of permitted persons as “Long Stay Visitor (O-
Ret)”.
For online registration, the ones who have “retirement” stamp with valid re-entry permit in their passport
should choose this type also. For Thai citizen, FYI, in case there are some inquiries from Thai nationals
concerning procedure to go to Thailand. Please ask them to follow the Embassy Facebook page
www.facebook.com/RoyalThaiEmbassyRome for the updated information. For Thais, if they do not wish
to use the ASQ facility, please do not tell them to register online via coethailand.mfa.go.th yet This is
because the Embassy arranges some flights / month for Thais to go to Thailand using State Quarantine
facility and those who would like to use the facility need to apply with the Embassy first. They can find
this information on our Facebook page.
Thanks so much for your patience during this “visa confusing” period.
